  • Noteworthy improvements and a great daily driver - 2013 Honda Civic

The compact market doesnt have 2 or 3 clear cut winners anymore. Honda underestimated this when they designed the 2012 civic (which my wife owns). For someone like her, who just wants something that is painless to own and operate, and gets good mpg, its a great car. But for me, the improvements on the 2013 are a little more than subtle. the biggest and most obvious ones are with the new standard features and the interior quality. I never had a quiet honda until now. Its quieter than my buddies 2012 focus, which is something id never thought id be able to say. gotten nothing but compliments and it feels very germanic..more like my old golf than my previous civics

  • Battery drain problem? - 2013 Honda Civic

Love the interior and exterior quality. New civic has a comfortable ride and very good fuel efficiency. Also like the fact that bluetooth and rear view camera are standard on all 2013 Civics. However, in the second week after buying the car I didnt drive it for another week and the car wouldnt start. Turns out the battery was dead due to cold weather (around 10-20 deg F) After jump start everything was ok but for a new car this is quite unexpected. Will have to watch it going forward how it behaves....

  • Better than the 2012, but ....... - 2013 Honda Civic

I like the car overall, but Im still having a hard time getting past the cheap honeycomb grill & the too black alloy wheels. I didnt realize when I bought the car 3 weeks ago that the radiator is as visual as the grill itself. The interior noise/engine are improved & the overall handling is very good. I wish I could get past the toys-for-us grill!

  • Nice to own a honda again... - 2013 Honda Civic

10 Jetta lease was up. I dislike the styling of the new Jettas so I went in for a 13 Accord Sport and left with a 13 Civic LX. Both great cars but I enjoyed the handling and overall feel of the Civic a bit more. I now prefer the Civic dashboard over a typical one (surprisingly). I also own a 12 Subaru Impreza which seems a lot zippier to 40mph but its also not nearly as quite (loud CVT and road noise) which for a daily commute of 120 miles is very important. My daily commute broken down is 40 miles city and 80 miles highway. I average 37mpg not using ECO but I use cruise control often. Over 400 miles per tank. I get compliments from my co-workers for what it is...a nice compact car.

  • 3years 23k miles later - 2013 Honda Civic

After leasing this car for three years and recently returning it I think I have a good perspective on what this car is about. Its very cheap to run basic point A to B transportation that tries to infuse a bit of fun along the way. Unfortunately engine and transmission are not up to the task at all without adding another 40hp at least. Fuel economy seemed to be getting worse throughout the years to average of 28mpg. Road noise is horrendous and getting up to speed upon entering highway is an adventure especially if you have passengers. Bottom line if you commute a long ways away and need cheap reliable car this is it.

Test drives arent sufficient to determine this. My back is killing me. It took me a while to figure out the cause.

  • Just make the cheap payment - 2013 Honda Civic

Ive put 20k on mine in one year oil changes only. Nothing goes wrong with these little cars. Road noise on rough highways make Bluetooth phone useless. 30 bucks gets you cross country on highway with cruise and eco set. Kick back and dont worry about breaking down.

  • Not suited for long term rides. - 2013 Honda Civic
    By -

I like the car over all, 74k miles and counting, no leaks or glitches so far. I drive it hard since I work with two ride-sharing companies. The biggest drawback is the space in the backseat and the lack of setting to get the driver seat just right. I do love the fuel economy, the eco button only means you have to break harder but I dont see significant savings on gas, which is a lot to say for a car that fills up with $22.00 bucks or less and drives for up to 500 miles HWY. (I done it). The only thing I would change on the car is the legroom in the back a couple of extra inches wouldve been great and again the driver seat. I spend about 10 hours a day in it and believe me, is not a ride in the park.
