  • They Keep on Running - 2002 Honda Civic

I had bought a 4 door 2002 Honda civic DX that was practically given to me and that car is a trooper it went through two accidents from previous owners and after a few repairs it runs as if nothing happened. The car is reliable and very compact thus it has great gas mileage. Just the other day I took it to the next city 30 miles to get there and 30 miles to come back and the gas needle did not even move for like two days then after that it continued to move down like it normally does. I did not have to fill up on gas for a couple of days. My only complaint is that it takes a few extra seconds for it to pickup speed and it makes this noise but apparently it is normal. Another thing is the steering is not a smooth as other cars and it has nothing to do with the power steering. I had a 1994 Nissan Sentra and the steering on that was so smooth. Those are my only small complaints. I see these cars everywhere. My co worker has a beat up version of my car and my neighbor who parks next to me has his 2002 Honda civic dented everywhere with the lights popping out but none the less their cars keep running like a charm too. I really dont see this model dying out soon.

This is our second Civic in 15 years, so far we our generally pleased with this car. Combined Hwy/city mileage is 36mpg, long trips it gets 42-45mpg. The car rides nice, handles nimbly, and has been very reliable. Im 62" and I have plenty of room and comfort. The car is a very low maintenance vehicle and well probably keep it as long as our 92 Civic (245K and still going).

  • Dont Believe all the Hype - 2002 Honda Civic

I purchased my 2002 Honda Civic EX with 148,000 miles from a private seller. It seemed like a good deal at the time but a few weeks after purchase things began going wrong. The handling was non existent. Braking was poor. Suspension was stiff. Technology or lack thereof was unreliable. The ride was extremely uncomfortable. The list goes on. I didnt expect much from a used car with high mileage but this was too much for me. Ive never had so many things inevitably go wrong on a vehicle. Keeping up with regular maintenance just wasnt enough for this thing. Bad tie rods, tie rod ends, timing belt, water pump, brakes, AC, coolant system, head gasket, everything that shouldnt have gone wrong did. The only thing that made driving this car bearable was the amount of money I saved on gas. The Civic truly is a gas saver. Needless to say I sold my Civic with 156,000 miles and bought something newer.

It’s a good car, but more like Ford than Honda. Picked it over Elantra for reliability and crash test data, Elantra more comfy & powerful, better stereo, & $3-4K less. Handling sucks (drive a new Corolla). Window regulators shouldn’t break from normal use. Paint chipped after 100 miles! Only gets 25MPG! Headlights dim when driving. Trunk dumps water inside when opened (from lights on trunk). Gas & brake petals too close, knee hits steering wheel. Right foot needs more room (have big feet, bigger shoes). Headrest makes better door than window, blocks rear view. Sun visor clip too tight. Driver door creaks. Ridiculous oil change procedure.

  • You Have Got To Love This Civic - 2002 Honda Civic

I love my Civic. It has had absolutely no problems and has run flawlessly. Love the style and the amenities that come in the EX model, like the moonroof and the A/C buttons. It has a powerful A/C that gets really cold and a super powerful heater. Tons of trunk room and is definitely built for 2, not 4 people. You can do it, but I wouldnt advise it.

From the time I drove it off the lot this car has been a blast to drive. It is my first car and I am very happy with it. Some people think the exterior looks odd, but the looks grow on you. Everyone loves the inside and the shifter never fails to be noticed. I havent seen any others around where I live in MA, but I enjoy driving a unique car.

  • Great Car for the value - 2002 Honda Civic

Ive been a Ford owner for years.I decided to take a look at Honda Civics and I was very impressed. Quality and workmanship is outstanding. Ive only has owned my Civic for a few weeks now but overall it is a great car. Being a small car the ride can be a bit more noticeable on the bumps. The price was right with no pressure to buy. Check them out!! My only complaint would be with the options which are very expensive with little negotiating.

My parents got me this car for my senior year of high school and for college. The car is in great shape despite some parking lot dings from careless drivers. I have 35,800 miles on it and never had a problem yet. The car runs beautifully no matter what the weather is like and the a/c is powerful and will get to the right temperature within 5 minutes of turning it on. The frame of the car will protect the people inside from almost any impact imaginable and I still snicker when I pull away from the gas pump with a full tank for less than $25. Its incredibly easy to handle and a great buy for any driver, but especially for college kids trying to save a little money. I love my car!
