I have had my 2008 AWD Acadia for 8 months. I have stop driving it because it is averaging 11.5 mpg hwy. I traded a 2004 Pacific for this that I loved I just wanted more room. I loved the car for the first month then all of the sudden the gas mileage took a dump. On my first road trip it got 22 mpg Hwy and 16 mpg city. This is the best I have even seen out of it. I am now in the market for a different SUV. I have had no mechanical issues and it has 76,000 mi. But if you dont care about what kind of mileage you get out of a SUV I have to say this is a great truck. Very comfortable ride.

  • Warning GMC doesnt care about customers who buy a used car! - 2008 GMC Acadia

I bought a used 2008 (not from a dealer). Pristine condition with 19,000 miles. Quickly, I noticed very faint noise coming from the steering wheel while turning. GMC looked at it said there was a problem with the rack and pinion, steering column and steering stays to the tune of $2,000 w/ labor. My research says this is not uncommon for this model and year. I contacted GMC, they said they would review it for coverage but that because I bought it used they hadnt made any money off me. If I had bought new and it had the same miles they would help since I would have been considered a loyal customer. So much for my customer loyalty. Worried about future since it only has 19,000 miles.

I bought a used 2008 SLT 2 AWD with every option on it for 29 K the vehicle had 37000 miles on it. Ater reading the reviews I was worried about the automatic transmission and water leakage so I had the dealer pull up a car fax and all the GMC service records, all recalls were taken care and only oil change and tire rotation in the service records. The vehicle runs great, good ride and the styling is awesome, I got a 5 year 100,000 bumper to bumper on it because of all the bells and whistles. After a month no complaints, a great GMC product.

I am a mom of two and I have owned my Acadia for 3 years this December and I still absolutely love it. Handles well, has plenty of room for thing and people, smooth ride, interior is very comfortable. This is a beautiful car and I always get compliments on it. My friends repeatedly tell me how much they enjoy riding in it.

  • Interior is going wrong! - 2008 GMC Acadia

Ive had the acadia over 2 years. I love it! Well recently Ive had some problems with the interior. The hydraulic arms to the back door have also gone bad. The larger seat in the middle passenger row wont move. The seat belts in the back are not comfortable (latches), they dont give at all. Good if you are tiny and can fit between them. Im just disappointed in the problems going wrong right now. Sunglass compartment on dash also sticks. Nothing mechanical (cross your fingers). Wish the tires were a normal size so they didnt cost so much to replace! Love the car though!

My acadia has been in the shop numerous times. 4th time for leaking sun roof- dealership says that water is supposed to run into the sunroof and as long as the drains are free (mine have already been clogged) it will be ok- who designs a car that has water coming into your sunroof? Ive had back bumper tightened, inside door panels tightened. Gone through 4 radios w/ nav already. Window clips have been forgotten to be put on at factory. Have had rattle in dashboard for over a year. Can not seem to stop the issue. Window are now rattling. DO NOT buy this vehicle. I love the look- I love the performance, but it is not worth the frustrations

  • water leakage - 2008 GMC Acadia

We too are having problems with water inside the vehicle.Pretty embarrassing having passengers notice water is dripping from the dome light in the back seat and they get wet putting on their seatbelt. We have had it to the shop three times now, first it was the drain tubes, then they said it was the roof rack and now thirdly, its the sunroof. (they admitted fixing the drain tubes incorrectly on the first visit) Water dripped from the dome light, from the seatbelts, under the driver side soaking the floor board. We had it leak onto the dash board from the inside window. As much as we all spend on these GMCs this is unacceptable. We hope there is no long term damage. FRUSTRATING!!

  • 2nd opinion - 2008 GMC Acadia

Have now driven the vehicle 20,000 miles, nearly all in Mexico. Good news is that I have had no mechanical problems at all and the car is very useful for hauling people and baggage. However, gas mileage remains unsatisfactory. Even at sea level, averaging around 55mph, mileage never goes over 18 miles per gallon. Have had the vehicle checked twice for gas consumption, with the computer showing no problems. I cannot believe other, much higher, mileage reports. Local GMC dealer confirms that real gas mileage does not come close to advertised numbers.

  • I think I made a mistake! - 2008 GMC Acadia

My 2008 GMC Acadia, has had excessive sunroof leakage on several occasions. After being wet so many times, there were water stains on the ceiling and it began to smell moldy. I had traded in my 2007 Acadia (with the same issues), thinking because GM was aware of this problem, it would have been corrected before the 2008s came out. Well, that did not happen. For what I paid for this vehicle, this is very frustrating to me when I was told that it was due to the drain lines being plugged from leaves, etc. My car did not sit under any trees. I was worried about future electrical issues and assumed GM would have corrected the problem before the 2008s came out. Not the case!
