Overview & Reviews
Ford's popular compact pickup receives a number of minor changes for 2003. The 2002 Tremor package, with its ear-splitting 485-watt sound system, returns for 2003 as a trim level, joining XL, Edge and XLT in the lineup. A chrome appearance package for select XLT models is available, and last year's FX4 package for four-wheel-drive Rangers is offered in two guises: Off Road and Level II. New Sonic Blue paint is unique to FX4 Level II Rangers. Other changes to the 2003 Ford Ranger include covered visor vanity mirrors for XLT models, standard step bars on XLT 4WD SuperCab and Edge 4WD models and minor interior trim and fabric revisions on some models. Finally, crew cab rear seats get LATCH anchors, and some new colors are available.
- Strong 4.0-liter V6 engine, handsome styling, variety of trim levels, functional interior.
- Uncomfortable cabin, dated design, no V8 is available, no crew cab configuration.

Built FORD Tough - 2003 Ford Ranger
By Riverrat34 - March 16 - 2:00 amI have had this truck for a little over a year and I love it. It could be a little bigger but thats not a big deal. The truck rides like a truck should. To many people are soft these days and I am glad to see that ford didnt go soft. The towing cappasity on this truck is outstanding. For the money this truck is the best on the market.

Great Truck - 2003 Ford Ranger
By silvers - February 20 - 2:00 amHave had my Ranger XLT w/4.0 V6 for about 7 months. No mechanical or appearance problems. Truck is really fun to drive, comfortable, runs quiet for a truck and is very smooth. Have used it for just pleasure, hauling yard debris, furniture....greater performer for each use.

Best deal on small truck - 2003 Ford Ranger
By redrodz1 - January 25 - 2:00 amStarted out wanting a toyota P/u and bought a ford.I test drove all small trucks and the ford for price, fuel economy, style and quality was my choice.Previously owned a nissan and toyota small truck. The ford truck has caught up and surpassed the imports in my mind. Insurance rates and dealer service rates were cheaper too.I like my ford pickup and would recommend it highly.

2003 Ranger XLT Value Package - 2003 Ford Ranger
By kassonk - October 30 - 2:00 am4.0L, 5-spd. Auto. Trans, A/C, 4WD. Coming off 2 excellent Toyota trucks, the Ford is WAY more truck for the money. Build quality is equal to that of Toyota and performance, ride, and ruggedness surpasses Toyota. Long-term quality is the only question, but Consumer Reports rates the Ranger equal to the Tacoma. Love this truck. Price, performance, quality, ride - everything. Did switch truck over to synthetic fluids @750 miles (Amsoil).

Great truck for the money - 2003 Ford Ranger
By jsm131 - October 19 - 2:00 amFirst small pickup I have ever owned. Good performance on the highway and on twisty mountain roads. Have not taken it off-road. Mine is a 5-speed manual. Good shifting, smooth clutch and excellent take-off with the 4.10 rear end. Actually could use a better fifth gear ratio. 5th is a little too close to 4th for long highway driving.

New 2003 - 2003 Ford Ranger
By rangerman - October 17 - 2:00 amThis is my 2nd Ranger. I traded in a 1994 with 170,000 miles on it and it was still running strong. I like the 2003 overall. It rides a little rough on bumpy pavement as trucks do. I really like the rear doors. The gas mileage is 22mpg with a 3.55 Limited Slip Differential. Ive had it for three weeks and 2700 miles and so far so good.
