love it - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By rivvy - July 30 - 9:12 pmWe bought this used with 31,000 on it, we haul a lot of stuff due to making repairs on house, this is one large roomy vehicle.. Still getting used to all the bells and whistles but cant say a bad thing about it traded in a Cherokee for it and have not had one bit of trouble with it so far. We have had 6 people in it and all were comfortable with plenty of elbow room

No Problems at 49K - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By Marc - July 21 - 5:02 pmPurchased it new, mostly hauling stuff and occasional people. Only problem was the brake recall. Only service - minor front end work, new tires (too early, imho) and regualr services when the change oil light comes on. I did buy the extended service from Ford, so I hope the tranny fails before 75K if it does at all. Oh and if you drive it carefully you can get 25+mpg on the highway at 65mph. I know because I have done it.

Lovin the Freestyle - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By Roughneck - June 16 - 5:10 pmI bought my 06 Freestyle about a year with 24k on it and have put another 20k on it since. I love the CVT and how smooth it rides and the engine has more than enough power. Most of my driving is highway and the engine moves my Freestyle faster than any other car I had. The inerior is beautiful and all the features make it feel like a much more expensive car. All these bad reviews are full of it because I am still riding on my same brakes, CVT and Continental tires with no problems. Overall I love everything about my Freestyle and as of 40k dont have anyhting to complain about.

Mr - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By BayAreaStyle - June 8 - 12:06 amClean exterior styling, massive cargo space in a mid size vehicle, peppy CVT transmission. Freestyle doesnt stand out on a spec sheet but it does the things I purchased it for really well. Carrying a family of four and lots of outdoor gear in comfort in all conditions. We have been in Sierra blizzards, carried the in laws (with the extra 2 seats in the back), hauled 3 kayaks with camping gear and have been happy with the performance. Fuel economy in cruise is around 22 mpg which is pretty good for an AWD that weighs 5000 lbs

Not bad - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By Charlie - June 4 - 10:19 amIt is going on 3yrs and about 30,000 miles and no major problems. New brakes as others have mentioned were replaced (covered by Ford). The tires need to be replaced soon. Gas mileage okay (about 18-20 city). Ride is good with plenty of room. Wondering if extended warranty is good idea as with any vehicle.

My Love went Sour - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By Kris - April 7 - 1:17 amI really loved the car. We bought this car used with 31,000 mi on it. 2 months after purchase the battery light went on and a new alternator is being installed- at 32,000 mi! I wish it was the breaks! Now Im waiting to see what will happen next after reading the reviews!

Brakes are EXPENSIVE to replace - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By Luce - April 3 - 2:27 pmThis car was great because I didnt want to get into a minivan! It had plenty of room for the kids and their things. The brakes have been replaced 4 times and the routers 3 times! Almost every inspection I have failed because I needed new breaks! They have been recalled, but there is no permanent fix! Very frustrating! Also the power steering fluid has been "leaking" I have already gotten it fixed twice, but it seems to keep having a problem. It sounds like a remote control car turning corners! If they could fix that i would be very happy with my car.

A/C overcharge - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By A/C Antics - March 17 - 6:56 amAfter purchasing our Freestyle and driving it for a couple of months we noticed an A/C problem. After sitting a few days, when starting it would make a noise under the hood that I wasnt familiar with. To check it out I watched the engine while my wife started the car. The noise and a green spray emanated from the A/C compressor. The spray evaporated quickly leaving nothing to show dealership mechanics. Taking the car to the dealership I explained what was happening. It turned out to be a pressure relief valve releasing an over filled A/C charge. After a pressure check and correcting the over fill everything works fine.

Excellent Family Car - 2006 Ford Freestyle
By jules - December 26 - 4:10 pmGreat car for a small family. Full size cooler fits in rear cargo area with 3rd row seat up. 3rd row seat is comfortable for kids only. Great leg room in front and middle sections. Great acceleration - dont know why the critics downplay its engine. Door panels are kind of flimsy from the outside. Overall we love our Freestyle!
