Overview & Reviews
The F-150 is fully redesigned for 2004. It's bigger, more powerful and offers a greater variety of features and body styles than ever before.
- Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
- Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

Helpful hints - 2004 Ford F-150
By black stallion - April 22 - 10:24 pmI have been over-all completely satisfied with my F150 even thought I have had to have my tranny rebuilt which is kind of expensive. I am a firm believer that you can get a good one and a bad one in anything and I believe I got the one with the tranny problem, after reading these other reviews I still believe I have a good truck, plan on keeping mine till the wheels fall off then get another one. By the way to all the folks having a problem with break squealing try putting ceramic brake pads one the truck not only does it stop the squealing but I havent had to clean my wheels since putting them on. They leave behind no brake dust.

Lightning strikes twice - 2004 Ford F-150
By rinnels69 - March 22 - 3:50 pmAlthough I have only had this Lightning a few days, I know I will love it. This is the 8th new Ford since 1989 and I am obviously a Ford fan. The power it has and the potential for more power is almost unlimited, but I will probally leave mine stock.....maybe. The interior is VERY comfortable for 2.

My Truck - 2004 Ford F-150
By J.P. - March 15 - 9:06 pmI have owned Cheverolet Dodge and now Ford, trust me 3rd time is a charm. I drive on average 16000 miles a year and have experienced both quality and reliability in my F-150. I receive many complimentson how it looks and drives.

Perfect 10 - 2004 Ford F-150
By Kaytie - March 1 - 4:30 amThis is my first truck and I do not know how I lived without it! I grew up in a truck family (both Fords and Chevys) so naturally I wanted a truck but did not want to give up car styling. Was I blown away, the 04 FXR is great on road and off and even gets looks from my friends!

Great New F150 - 2004 Ford F-150
By John Hammock - January 28 - 10:00 amEverything and more I have come expect from my F150s. A truck that drives and rides better than $50K sedans. This is a crew cab lariat with console.

My Truck - 2004 Ford F-150
By Flash - 1 - January 23 - 10:00 amI would like to have the fender liners inside the rear fenderwell of the bed. They do have them on the 250 series. The Overdrive Button on shifter is too easily, accidentily turned off, should be more recessed.

First year review 22300 miles - 2004 Ford F-150
By Trickhorn - January 11 - 4:50 pmWell, 22300 miles and one year later its still a great truck. No mechanical problems at all. The fit and finish of the Lariat interior is comperable to a sedan. I would recommend getting the split bench seat in the front because it comes in handy when you need to load six passengers. The stick shift looks neat but its not practical. The big V8 guzzles gas. I avg.<15 mpg. with a lot of in town driving. It towes heavy loads well. I have had it in 4 wheel drive several times in muddy pastures and it worked fine. The bed walls are very high and can make it difficult to see when backing. It also makes it difficult to get in and out of the bed or manipulate a load without climbing.
