This Year's Model Updates:

The 2010 Ford Escape gains a new driver-side mirror that's said to improve the driver's ability to check the vehicle's blind spot. There are also a few optional features for 2010, including a rearview camera, an automatic parallel-parking "Auto Park" feature and MyKey, which allows parents to limit speed and audio volume for their teen drivers. Heated seats are also now standard on the Limited.

Pros:
  • Innovative high-tech features, impressive crash scores, peppy performance.
Cons:
  • Feels old compared to rivals, poor braking performance, non-reclining rear seat is difficult to fold.

  • Fix or repair daily still holds true - 2010 Ford Escape

The vehicle is very nice to drive, the color was perfect for me. I was so impressed with Ford, this vehicle was loaded and at a great price. I was in love, but that soon ended and we are about to break up. I purchased the car 11/09 and 2 weeks later the headliner started comming down. The wires on the rearview mirror are exposed and a loud chirping/howling noise began with each take off. Ford is aware of the nosie, but has not come up with a fix as of yet. When the repairs to the brand new 2010 are complete, I will run not walk to get rid of this cute little rip off of a car. The lady who said that the seats stain from just water is right.

We looked at/researched several small- mid size SUVs and pleased with our 12/22/09 purchase. We were not interested in cross over vehicles. I was coming from a Toyota RAV4. We did purchase leather seating and moonroof/sync pkg with Serius radio. The Escape handles well in the toughest road conditions (no annoying road noise), very comfortable and roomy. Have not found any cons yet. This is the first American vehicle we have purchased and obviously, highly recommend the Escape XKT.

  • Meets most expectations except MPG - 2010 Ford Escape

Just purchased this vehicle and took it on its maiden highway voyage of 250 miles. The V6 3.0L engine was advertised at 21 mpg city/ 25 mpg Hwy, but I got only 23 mpg on my trip. The interior is roomy enough for 2 kids in the back. Yes, I know theres a 3rd rear seat, but its hardly a full seat. And with fighting boys, I dont think all 3 would survive together in the back. Still, around town and to the baseball fields, they can sit comfortably for a while. SYNC is lots of fun but works sporadically with the iPhone 3G S. The blue-tooth wants to override the USB connection. In summary, great car with plenty of comfort, visibility, and power. MPG was lacking on my highway test.

2010 Ltd AWD. Bought this over RAV4. Excellent Sync features and controls on steering wheel. V6 and ride is smooth and quiet. Ground clearance a plus but easy to get into. Running boards not needed. Ergo is great. Love pentagon shaped side mirrors, give better depth near vehicle and w/ integral blindside mirrors. Six speed is smooth and vehicle feels very solid. Factory tow package unlike RAV4 which is prep package only. Sound system is awesome with Premium package and can read music directly from USB flash drive or MP3. Rebate, dealer discount and built in USA a plus over RAV4. Ford web site inventory search a plus, can see sticker for each vehicle in your area. Found good match.

  • Bad Back - 2010 Ford Escape

Own a 2008 with leather seats and I lve it. Bought 2010 with cloth seats and I hate it. The seats are too soft and have no support. My wife has no problem with the seats, but I call the truck the "torture chamber" If you have a sensitive back DO NOT get cloth seats. Other then that , the truck is great. I drive the 2008.

Decided on 4cyl for overall economy of how often the vehicle will be driven by driver alone and/or with one child. Measuring 22.5 MPG after three weeks city travel, have not taken highway yet. Test drove limited 6cyl, but still stuck w/4cyl XLT, not big diff. to me. Traded 3liter Explorer in, the 6cyl Escape wasnt close. I feel entitled to all researching small SUVs to post this review in all fairness.Personal exp. measured against Highlander,Tiguan,Traverse &Equinox. Liked the overall weight and feel of vehicle in comparison. Could honestly live without as much tech given. Sync has not been smooth setup pending. Overall very happy with product value, great job by Ford.

  • What was I thinking - 2010 Ford Escape

I bought my 1st new car a 2010 Ford Escape and had it for two weeks and loved everything about it until it broke down. The service dept. could not find anything wrong with it. It dies going down the road and then will start back up in about 10 minutes, it did it about every other day until last week when it would only stay running for out 2 minutes and then die over and over again. It has been in the shop for 5 days and they still dont know whats wrong with it. I must of bought a lemon.

  • Great mileage - 2010 Ford Escape

Averaging 27 mpg combined highway and city driving. Has all the creature features and comfort you expect in an American car. Suttle engine vibration concerned me at first but Ford states its part of having a big 4 cylinder- will get used too. So far so good.
