Overview & Reviews
The 2003 Stratus coupe gains revisions to its front and rear styling and an updated instrument panel and center console. The SE coupe is dropped in a sense; it will only be available to fleet buyers, such as rental car agencies. Sedans continue as before except the SE Plus is subtracted and the V6 engine (with the automatic transmission) is now flexible fuel-rated, meaning it can run on ethanol as well as gasoline.
- Exceptional value, attractive shape, fun to drive.

Great Little Car - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By KAB - July 22 - 9:20 pmI have the Stratus SXT Coupe. I purchased it 1.5 years ago and I love it! I have the ocean blue color. I am always getting comments on how "pretty" my car is! My only complaint is that it is very small. I definitely do not recommend it for someone who has children. Car sits a little too low to the ground. The trunk is huge and mine came with a 4 disc CD player which is very nice.

Worth the purchase! - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By Sarah B - June 11 - 3:16 pmWe were in the market last August for a car, and came to Edmunds.com. Of all the cars we looked up that we were considering, the 2003 Dodge Stratus R/T coupe had the best review. So we made the purchase and have not been let down! I would tend to agree with the other reviews regarding the emergency brake placement, but other than that we cant complain! Definitely worth the purchase!

Its Just Great!!! - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By Yogi4 - November 30 - 1:15 pmThis is just a great vehicle. I just have the SE model, so I dont have all the goodies, but nontheless it performes great. The gas mileage is good, runs quiet with just a little road noise. It handles well and the 4 cylinder is peppy and made for the do-it-yourself tune-ups. The engine warms up unbelievably fast and the heater will blow you away. But the A/C could be a little colder. You can use your cup holders without your cup getting in the way of anything. The seats are comfortable even on long trips. Use semi-synthetic oil, I find that it improves mileage and smoothness in this engine. Dont use high priced brake pads. Just use the cheap semi metallic pads or it will eat your rotors.

By Susan Kirton - March 17 - 2:00 amWe just bought it and paid 10,000 for it. I didnt want a sedan initially, but I am very happy with the styling and solidity of the car.It could use a few more amonites, but other than that we are happy wih our purchase.

Safest car on the market - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By Elliebean - December 4 - 2:00 amWell I dont really know if its the safest but when I got in an accident with my dodge stratus, it saved my life. The car took the impact in all the right places and the driver and I walked away just fine. If you could see the picturesof the accident, youd be amazed. Im buying another one.

2003 Stratus R/T Coupe - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By bilmato - November 26 - 2:00 amHandles great, smooth and quiet. Could use another 25 - 50 HP, but the performance is adaquate for most drivers. Im a bit disappointed in braking performance, but after driving an IROC Daytona for ten years it would be hard to find a car that stopped as well as that one.

Excellent middle of the road car - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By sac86738 - September 28 - 2:00 amRealize that this is not a performance car, so performance gets an "average." Comfort-wise, the seats are cushy, and the steering wheel feels good--not cheap. Fun to drive? Not particularly. Interior is well thought out, very simple. The styling of the exterior is pleasing to my eye, especially the shorter windows. It has a kind of "meaner" look to it than its predecessor. As for reliability, it always starts up as soon as the key is turned--no delays. Ive never had a problem with my 1999 Stratus, and I sure dont expect to have too many problems with this one.

Nats Stratus - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By NATALYEANNE - September 6 - 2:00 amI really enjoy my Stratus b/c it has a lot of get up and go. There is a slight delay when you are taking off but once you do...look out. The 6 disk cd changer in the dash with the oontrols behind the steering wheel is very convenient. I like it much better than having the controls in the front. It could stand to have a litte more leg room in the back though!

Nice car, but milage stinks - 2003 Dodge Stratus
By redpony - September 1 - 2:00 amThe fuel milage is awful. We started out getting 22.7 in town, but the milage has fallen with each suceeding fill up to 16.5. We can only get 25 on the highway. Also on days with a temps over 115 the idle is erratic. The car will almost stall coming a stop. On one very hot 126 degree day the idle jumped to 2000 rpms causing the car to lurch forward almost causing an accident. The dealer can find nothing wrong and says that the Chrysler Eng. Dept. claims this is normal for all Chrysler 4 cyl. engines in hot weather. Chrysler Corp. wont help so I have filed a complaint with the NTSA regarding the sudden engine acceleration problem.
