This Year's Model Updates:

A four-speed automatic gearbox replaces the archaic three-speed unit, a new base model is introduced, as is a value-packed SXT. Both SE and ES trims are relegated to fleet-only sales, and all 2002 Dodge Neons get a new "Dodge-signature" (crosshair-style) front end.

Pros:
  • Competent handling, large interior, affordable price.
Cons:
  • Engine lacks refinement, weak frontal offset crash-test scores.

Cheap fun in plain clothing is the Neon ACR. The 150 horses moves that car faster than a Neon should, and it handles like cars costing three or four times as much. The only giveaway to your ACR status is dual exhaust tips. That, and showing your taillights to nearly any Honda that tries to pass you.

  • What was I thinking? - 2002 Dodge Neon

I liked it at first, dont get me wrong. Ive had the car for a year. The sunroof has already broken once. My volume radio gets louder when I try to turn it down. The brakes squeak something awful. And whats up with the rattling? It sounds like my used Cavalier I had seven years ago!!

  • Best money Ive ever spent (on a car)! - 2002 Dodge Neon

Ive owned lots of other cars, and the most fun Id had was with the 79 Starfire and 95 Neon, because they were awesome on gas and could put (a little) power to the ground and corner extremely well. The 2002 Neon ACR is the pinnacle of cheap fun. It has 75hp/ liter so youre not shortchanged on power, but it has adjustable suspension so I can set this car up for autocrossing in an hour. People who look at it and think "rental car" usually only get to see my taillights the rest of the way. And I scored it for $11,5k certified used with 1300 miles on it. It pays to shop!

I researched the Neon R/T and other cars in its class and found no other car with such good looks (inside and outside), features and performance for the price. The car is truely loaded and with a little extra money you can get a truely great sound system and sunroof! But the best part is driving it. The car is quick the steering and braking systems are excellent and the suspension is perfectly tuned.

  • A Great Driver - 2002 Dodge Neon

Other than the hassles with the initial purchase from a deceatful dealership, the car itself has been truely suprising. Bought as a future long distance daily driver with hopes of economy and good gas mileage....and can you believe it they are all true. The car is exactly as it spells out in the brochure.

  • cars great-dealership is not - 2002 Dodge Neon

the car runs great! Im very pleased with the car itself. I traded a Dodge Stratus in for this and I am very confident with my decision. However if I were to reccommend buying a dodge product- do not but from Dambrosios Dodge. I am very unhappy with my entire sale and the salesman I dealt with. Luckily the car is worth having, because I almost didnt buy it at all because of the dealership.

  • Great little car - 2002 Dodge Neon

Love the car, very spacious due to long wheelbase. Have the ES model like a car that does not look like an import. Great radio and CD player. Would like a little more power though. Very comfortable on long trips.

  • Great little ride - 2002 Dodge Neon

Our first Neon was good but started falling apart (a/c, speedo/odo quit, and gas gauge quit, knobs started breaking etc) but the engine with 130K is still solid. NOW we have the SXT, had it a month and the engine is zippier w/132bhp. Gas milage is down from last Neon/38mpg to 33mpg. Gear shift is a little squishy but this aint a Ferrari. For the price with the rebate, to getta GOOD LOOKING car with 15 inch rims, a/c, cd player, power frt windows (having to manually roll down the rear is strange but hey-I ride in the front) , and a roomy interior is almost unheard of. Go price the competitors and itll make your head hurt.
