Overview & Reviews
No changes for 2004.
- Plenty of passenger and luggage capacity, agile handling, powerful engines.
- Dated ergonomics, blind spots when backing up, engine noise when pressed.

If it werent in the shop all the time.. - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By Melissa - February 11 - 2:18 pmBought this car with 60,000 miles on it, full service records and no history of problems (Ive put three years and 22,400 on it). Supremely roomy interior, we *used* to take several long trips comfortably, however this engine has completely seized up and shut down in the middle of interstate driving (talk about excitement...), while applying the brake in city driving etc. despite regular and routine maintenance. Ive replaced most of the electrical system and half the replaceable components of the engine for more $$ than I care to admit. Nothing but trouble from this engine (I though it was just the 2.7s, guess Im just lucky)!!! Shame, too...its comfortable, and a ton of fun to drive.

4 years and Still Strong - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By Kasper - November 17 - 6:55 pmI bought this car in 04 for my wife. The only part I had to replace was the cable from the shifter to the transmission and tires this past summer. Aside from the dings this car is like new still and runs like it.

2004 Dodge Intrepid 3.5 LTR EXT - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By Mark - November 17 - 3:14 pm68,000 miles had to replace the crankshaft position sensor, 3 cam sensors, 3 batteries. Car would die and not restart. Would wait for awhile and then it would start. Found that the coupling where the positive battery cable met up at the jumper post above the air intake filter box had become corroded. This was causing the battery and cables to overheat. Flickering lights and total shutdown of the engine ensued. Cleaned the corrosion and replaced battery cable. Car runs like new.

Love Dodge - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By Michael - September 17 - 2:52 pmOne of the best cars that I have owned. I love my intrepid and have only had normal maintenance.

Outstanding! - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By jmoser - July 29 - 11:38 pmI have had no problems with mine. I get 32 MPG highway and 24 MPG city! I love it! I have owned/driven 8 different cars in the last 6 years, and this one rises above all of them! The 2.7 is a little sluggish when the weather is warm. In the cold temperatures it is quick and powerful! Great car to own!

I like it!!! - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By DanL - May 25 - 8:40 amBought with 23,000 miles and have been on 3 road trips with it. Mileage is great for a larger V6, performance is smooth and ride is quiet. The trans shifts smoothly and the car handles a lot like a smaller and lighter vehicle. Mileage on trips has been around 27 with in town driving around 19 or so.

i love intrepids - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By macaframa - April 8 - 2:00 amI absolutly love my intrepid. when i drive it its like im in a leer jet, i have my windows tinted and its low to the ground and i have beats in the trunk, i love driving around and showing it off, i would definatly pick an intrepid over a bmw or lexus. the outside styling of the car is perfect, i cant imagine how they could possibly improve it.

Already Issues! - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By Heidi - November 6 - 12:47 pmI just purchased the 2004 Dodge Intrepid for my daughter (it is her first vehicle) 2 weeks ago and at first she noticed she had issues starting it. I thought with 38,000 miles, it would be a reliable car but it has stopped on her while she was driving twice now! Found the camshaft sensor needed to be replaced. We also are looking at the crank sensor but I am frustrated with the reliablity of a 2004 car with low miles. My husband was upset that we purchased a Dodge and I regret our decision as well.

For a used car, its a great value for money - 2004 Dodge Intrepid
By T Abraham - November 8 - 9:53 amIve had this car for a few months now. Ive had to change the brake pads and some transmission components. Bought it for $6500. Have spent about $1500 since, but the car has been very very reliable since and has been great on long 17 - 20 hour drives. Plenty of storage. Great for families. Taut driving and handling. Plenty of power. Great car.
