Glad I Bought - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By New Fan - December 20 - 4:51 pmWe needed the functionality of a truck, but also needed to carry four or more people. I spent many months researching and driving different trucks which would fill our needs included the 05 Tacoma, 05 Frontier, Sportrac, Colorado, and S-10, but I kept coming back to the Dakota. Reasons: solid feel, comfortable interior, tight turning radius, looks, power, pleasant ride, and plentiful options. We have not been disapointed. We knew that we would be sacrificing fuel economy, but it is still better than full size trucks. Though used with over 55K miles, it still feels new and other than a loose gas cap, have not had any problems.

MLW Dakota - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By MLW - September 20 - 11:35 amOverall this is a great truck. I bought it to pull a 3 place snowmobile trailer and it does a good job, however it needs different gearing. It always hunts for the correct gear between 55- 65 mph under or over that speed seems ok, plus the gas mileage when towing is poor at best. Otherwise, its has been a reliable truck, and I would buy another!

Its the suspension stupid - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By Dan H - July 30 - 8:31 pmThis is my second Dakota. The ball joints have been replaced on both twice now.Other than that, its a good little truck. 18/19 mpg and I make it work for its gas. The transmission is quirky, but still going strong, and I will likely buy another. The brakes arenot too good

silver bullet dakota quad - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By blackdakota - July 11 - 2:00 amNo problems after 55k miles. Plenty of room for 4 adults, plus bikes and luggage in the bed. Works all day then is stylish for a night on the town. Leaves all other compact and some full- size pickups in the dust.

Hope to stay pleased. - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By mshep11025 - December 13 - 2:00 amLooked at a Ford Ranger 4WD Edge first and just about bought it. Wow, am I glad I took some advice and looked at the SLT...........not really in the same category but in my case, close in price. Hope I comtinue to enjoy as much as I do now. My wife also loves it because it has plenty of style, room, and power w/o overwhelming size.

1st Dodge P/up - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By rcarlson - November 28 - 2:00 am34000 plus miles to date, and only malfunction has been a lose rear view mirror. The Goodyear Eagle tires were worn down to less then 1/4th of a penny tread left at 30,000 miles. Not very impressive tire performance. I have replaced with Michelins best light truck tires, and the comfort and handling is greatly improved.

By nickolimartini - October 2 - 2:00 amCouldnt have gotten a better truck for the buck, way better than any ford or chevy weve ever owned. Very rugged, never a single little problem with it, and great torque and power.

Great Truck - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By Jwiegold - September 18 - 2:00 amI purchased this truck new in February of last year and I have had NO problems with it. It is very comfortable and seems to be just the right size. I can fit motorcycles in the bed and even with a v-6 and automatic transmission it still has enough power to tow a trailer full of motorcycles through mountains. (It is equipped with the 3.92 rear axle ratio).

Fun - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By eagleeye13 - July 9 - 2:00 amSpecial ordered 4.7, 3.55 lsd, 5 spd with all the goodies. added 3" dynamax cat back exhaust, K&N air filter and ARE tonneau. July 5,2003 drove from San Diego to San Fernando Valley and back 370 miles speed 75 mph avg (70-80) freeway, with about 30 miles city type driving 19.6 mpg for trip. This truck rides and handles more like a car. Previous trucks were 98 dakota 5.2 with same as 02 accesories, needed more seat room, and 89 se-v6 Nissan loaded, I get better mpg from both Dakotas with more comfort and power then the Nissan.
