1st Dodge P/up - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By rcarlson - November 28 - 2:00 am34000 plus miles to date, and only malfunction has been a lose rear view mirror. The Goodyear Eagle tires were worn down to less then 1/4th of a penny tread left at 30,000 miles. Not very impressive tire performance. I have replaced with Michelins best light truck tires, and the comfort and handling is greatly improved.

By nickolimartini - October 2 - 2:00 amCouldnt have gotten a better truck for the buck, way better than any ford or chevy weve ever owned. Very rugged, never a single little problem with it, and great torque and power.

Great Truck - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By Jwiegold - September 18 - 2:00 amI purchased this truck new in February of last year and I have had NO problems with it. It is very comfortable and seems to be just the right size. I can fit motorcycles in the bed and even with a v-6 and automatic transmission it still has enough power to tow a trailer full of motorcycles through mountains. (It is equipped with the 3.92 rear axle ratio).

Get a Toyota Tundra - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By gcsupraman - September 4 - 2:00 amI think this has to be the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life. I was going to get the Tundra but was blinded by the rebate. I paid $26000 for the truck after the rebate and I see its only worth $16,000 (private party value) I have never had a vehicle depreciate so fast. For the money ive lost - not including the $376 monthly payments for the last year (total cost of ownership) $1376 per month I could have paid a limo driver to drive me around. The truck has been in the shop 6 times in the year for clunking, check engine light and stalling. I will never ever buy another chrysler product again!

had enough - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By Rhet1 - August 19 - 2:00 amThe truck is decent until it hits 20k miles, then it all goes to hell. Transmission is horrible ( been replaced twice ) the build quality is horrific. It rattles and pings at any speed above 30 mph. We made the mistake of buying 6 for our fleet and will be getting rid of them asap. Do yourself a favor and look into something else!

Fun - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By eagleeye13 - July 9 - 2:00 amSpecial ordered 4.7, 3.55 lsd, 5 spd with all the goodies. added 3" dynamax cat back exhaust, K&N air filter and ARE tonneau. July 5,2003 drove from San Diego to San Fernando Valley and back 370 miles speed 75 mph avg (70-80) freeway, with about 30 miles city type driving 19.6 mpg for trip. This truck rides and handles more like a car. Previous trucks were 98 dakota 5.2 with same as 02 accesories, needed more seat room, and 89 se-v6 Nissan loaded, I get better mpg from both Dakotas with more comfort and power then the Nissan.

Excellent truck - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By sogospfan - June 2 - 2:00 amI just dont like the 15mpg gas mileage. I have only had the truck for 3 weeks and have put over 1000 miles on it. It is so fun to drive. I love it.

02 4.7 V8 Dakota - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By DodgeDude - May 23 - 2:00 amFor the money this is a great truck. Excellent power, rides great, comfortable, looks cool. That little 4.7 puts out some good ponies for that mid-size truck. Had 2 minor problems in the first couple of weeks, but the dealer fixed for free. Engine made a squealing sound like a loose belt, and air bag light came on. I find that most new cars go to the shop for minor fixes within the first couple of weeks anyway.

02 V-8 Dakota - 2002 Dodge Dakota
By Marklom - May 22 - 2:00 amOverall the truck is great. I did not want a huge full-size truck, but wanted a V8. I love the looks of the truck and it handles real well. It has plenty of power for a mid size truck.
