This Year's Model Updates:

The Tahoe gets a host of new upgrades for 2003. On the inside, you'll find new tri-zone climate controls, an enhanced driver-information center and a redesigned center console and instrument panel. New options includes second-row bucket seats and adjustable pedals. A revised lineup of entertainment options offers buyers a Bose audio system, as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, there are dual-stage airbags, a standard front-passenger-sensing system, three-point belts for all second-row passengers and an available StabiliTrak stability control system on Tahoes with the 5300 V8. The braking system has been upgraded for what Chevrolet says is better pedal feel and performance and Tahoes sold in California are now fitted with a new catalytic converter that earns the truck ULEV certification. Deleted items on the Tahoe are minor. No longer standard are third-row floor mats, an underhood light, a 7-to-4 pin trailer brake adapter, an auxiliary door lock switch in the cargo area and a lock for the center console.

Pros:
  • Strong engines, roomy and versatile interior, numerous available amenities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, interior materials could use improvement.

  • 03 Tahoe - 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

While not the most gas efficient, considering the size, I still get an average of 17 mpg. I love it, its comfortable, reliable and safe. Outside of the general oil changes, tire rotations and one recent brake job and a/c repair, I have not had to do anything to it but drive and enjoy it. Recommend to anyone. Good quality vehicle. Bought used in 03 with 35,000 miles, I now have over 119,000 on it and it is still going strong, looks and runs like new! Hope to keep it a few more years!

After owning 3 Suburbans over 20 years, we decided to downsize now that the kids are grown. The Tahoe is a great, dependable vehicle and much easier to park than the Suburbans were. I still have all of the cargo room behind the second seat and have enjoyed the ride and feel of the vehicle very much. Just did not expect to pay MORE for the Tahoe than any other Suburban we ever had!

  • Z71 a SUV sports car - 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

We chose the Z71 because it fulfills a wide spectrum of requirements. It can go off road, if has a third seat for extra passengers, its suspension is stiff behaving like a sports car during hard cornering, it has good acceleration and payload capacity, and finally, at least an aceptable fuel usage.

My husband gave the thumbs-up to purchase our long awaited Tahoe as my graduation present and I couldnt be happier with our decision! Rides smooth, love the third row (my 6 foot nephew sits back there, no problem), so roomy and looks great! We have had zero problems and tons of compliments on our big baby! Awesome vehicle!

  • So Far, So Good! - 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

I have had my SUV for 13 months now and I have had only one problem so far. Shortly after I purchased my SUV, I started hearing this faint noise in the dash area. I took it to the dealership (Harbor Chevrolet, Long Beach, CA - EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!) and I was told that they would have to take the dash apart piece by piece to find the source of the noise. It turned out to be some wiring or cabling issue and they were able to fix. After 17k miles and venturing to Las Vegas, San Diego and Santa Maria, I have only 85% usage on my brakes! Y E S!!!!

  • My 2003 Tahoe - 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

Am I driving an SUV or a car? This Tahoe is so smooth, you would think its a caddy. The get-up-and-go of this large vehicle is awesome. I am paying for it in the gas-guzzling category, but it is well worth it. The steering wheel controls, computer features makes this vehicle an ultimate off-road or city driving experience that you will definately enjoy.

  • 1500,000 miles and Still Going - 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

I have had my Z71 Tahoe since I bought it brand new in 2003, and I have yet to change the brakes! Yes, I have triend to get someone to change them and they wouldnt do it becuase they told me the Tahoe didnt need them. Amazing. I owned a silverado before this and the ride difference is huge. I installed a K and N cold air intake system on it and my accelleration is so much better. I travel all over the Southeast driving an average of 30,000 miles/year and this is a chariot. By far the best vehicle I have ever owned. When this one dies on me I will buy another one to last me another 5 years.

I have the Z71. Fantastic truck. Rides as well with 63,000 as when new. A couple initial problems, drive shaft replacement, and no shifting back into 2WD, but dealer fixed it, and hasnt been back to the shop in 30,000 miles. Very solid truck. Was rear ended by Ford Econoline loaded with tools doing 35 MPH. Only $3,500 damage, and was still drivable. Glad I was in the Tahoe and not something else. This truck gives me the confidence to take it anywhere in any conditions. I feel this truck will run forever. Foreign vehicles have nothing on this truck.
