Overview & Reviews
The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

Excellent truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Brian M - July 23 - 12:50 pmI have owned several Chevys over the years and I have yet to find a better truck out there. Design is good reliability is good and you cant beat the resale value on a 4WD Chevy truck. Overall its a versatile, comfortable, reliable, American made vehicle.

First Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By bellterp - May 14 - 10:00 amThis is my first truck. Looked at Ford and Dodge went with the Chevy. Best pick I ever made. Rids like a car. Gas mileage is poor but that is what you get with a 5.3 V8.

Great Truck! - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By bobwan - April 6 - 2:00 amI love this truck! I replaced a 5yr.- old compact pickup because I needed more power - boy did I get it. The truck has all the power and acceleration I need, along with car- like comfort. Ive taken two fairly long trips already (over 300 miles each) and Ive yet to grow tired of driving. I havent used it for towing yet, but I have no doubt it will have all the towing power I need. I added a tonneau cover to the box, and that seemed to improve the gas mileage a little. Right now, Im getting about 17.5mpg on the highway at 75-80mph - thats better than my old 4-banger, even with the higher acceleration.

Excellent Puchace - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Joshua Graham - April 1 - 10:00 amThe Silverado Work Truck is an ideal purchase for a working man who wants a truck that he can use for a reasonable price. The manual transmission, vinyl flooring and seats, long bed, and 4WD are ideal features, and in the WT package you can purchase this at an excellent price. This is my second truck like this in 4 years and I couldnt be any happier. My last truck was the most reliable vehicle Ive ever owned and I put it through many situations in the woods and on the highway. I would drive the same truck even if I was a millionare.

GM Excellence? - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By jdfosterdad - March 21 - 10:00 am1. We had engine performance issues from the start. The computer was reflashed 3 times. 2. At about 45,000 the engine began to knock when first started in the morning which sounded like piston slap, at 75,000 it was getting hard to start and compression on 3 cylinders was measured at 70-75 pounds. The motor had to be replaced. Since the motor, the transmission has had to be replaced. 3. We had performance issues, engine problems because of a poorly designed pistons and transmission failure, all were asked to be addressed under warranty and promises were made and in the end ignored. 4. Would I by another Silverado? I,ve been a GM customer for 30 years and can safely say NOWAY!!!!!

Fun Fantasy - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By David A Clawson - March 21 - 10:00 amI have always wanted to own a truck. Now that Im retired, I finally have one and I love it. I use it to pull a pop-up camper that I used to pull with my wifes Trailblazer. Although the Trailblazer did good, the Silverado is excellent! You dont even know its there. The only problem I have is my wife wants to drive it all the time (her Trailblazer is an 02 LTZ with all the goodies)! The mileage is not great but is better than I expected, even when pulling the pop-up. If the cost of repairs matches the Trailblazer, I will be happy.
