Overview & Reviews
The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

Refined Truck! - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Ed Vaca - February 8 - 10:00 amI have enjoyed the luxury inside the truck. I have the leather bucket seats, they are very comfortable. I like the power of the 5.3. So for so good!!!

Great Truck, Best for the money!!! - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Hoosier Shaun - January 5 - 4:26 am4.8 V8 is tough, just as good as the 5.3 minus the extra torque. I test drove the V6 and found it to be poor. Wish I had a back cab at times, but the tonneau cover does fine when i strap things in. Bought this truck used with 20K on it. Havent done much to it except air and oil filters/oil. The previous owner installed performance exhaust which roars and gives extra HP. I put on 17" 2007 avalanche wheels and 265 70 R A/T tires. Put on rear air lift suspension (airbags) and have been hauling anything from dirt, rock, stone, furniture, appliances, and tow a 5250lb boat/trailer. Its a half ton but with the bags i can easily load 1750 as i have scaled it at landscape vehicle scale.

2003LS v 2004LT - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Annamarie - December 31 - 2:00 amThe complete front seat & compartment s/u on the 2003 model was 100% better, including lighting, ashtray, drink holders, etc. Also, front seat was NOT 100% bucket[Much better I think] 2003 had 3 DC Sockets; 2004~~two only.

Trudk - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By realtrucks - December 31 - 2:00 amGreat truck. No auto track buzz out of floor slight on 4 wheel stick and fan noise out of headliner, probably from dash. Will take to dealer for these, but these are the only ones. Great in the snow, pavement, dirt, and ice. I live up high in the mountains and it is always reliable.

Outstanding Ride by Abolds - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By abolds4397 - November 7 - 10:00 amI am so pleased with my Chevy Silverado! The extended cab has so much room to operate. I also love the XM radio and ONSTAR. After taking it for a long ride on the highway, I learned how comfortable it really is. It maneuvers like a car. The bed is more than adequate to load up and transport items. The 5.3L engine is very powerful and and very little noise and the transmission shifts very smoothly.

SILVERTRUCK - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By CHEVY - October 27 - 3:50 amI bought a 2004 Extended Cab Z71 in June and in Sept my Wife rolled it and it was a total loss; the truck hydroplaned on rough wet pavement, spun around and rolled in the ditch. I found that the suspension was too ridgid and that the vehicle took on a mind of her own once she took to rough road esp. if the pavement was wet. After this I decided to purchase a 2005 Crew Cab Z71 and I find this truck the very best for driving and handling,I do however find that the suspension is still more rigid than I would like and so I alwalys now carry balance weight in the box,( 300 lbs) I have found that this makes a big difference to the stability / ride of the truck especially on rough / wet roads.
