Overview & Reviews
The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

Roomy for the kids... - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By PAT - December 26 - 10:00 amTook the grand kids to the east coast 3600 miles round trip. 22 miles to a gal. Roomy even for the 5 year old not to get fussy. Love the bench seat in the back. Great on the get up and go. The horse power is good for a 4.8 vortec. Oh yeah the price was right too. Color Arrival Blue sure is pretty. Overall good for the money.....

Almost the perfect truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By mobey - December 25 - 10:47 amI bought my truck with 6 miles on the odometer in March 2004. It was recalled for the instrument panel. Very good experience there. While it was under warrenty, I had it in for new Cats and O2 sensors, three times, but never again since. The last warrenty items I had replaced were the comfort control switches. I now have 190,000 miles on the truck and, get this....Im replacing the brake pads for the first time, and the rotors have very little wear. This is by far the best vehicle Ive ever owned.

My Dream Truck! - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By JelliedMooseNose - December 5 - 10:26 amThis truck is awesome! It is all Ive ever wanted in a truck. My 4.8 has adequate power now that I have a K&N Cold Air Intake in combination with a Dual Flowmaster 40 series exhaust. The handling is great and at times I forget how big this vehicle is. This truck has been reliable with no major problems at all. Gas mileage is reasonably well, but like they say, "If I wanted MPGs I would have got a Honda!"

By pmlap - November 28 - 10:00 amVery nice, traded a 2000 Silverado regular cab. Great performance, good looks. Get about 13mpg. Could use a power sliding rear window.

HB review - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By hossboss - November 14 - 10:00 amIts a great vehicle. Lots of fun to drive. Its roomy inside and the stereo system is nice, though I prefer to leave it off lots of the time so I can listen to the V-8. Its a beautiful looking truck too. No real complaints. I knew gas mileage wasnt going to be great before I bought...actually a little better than anticipated.

By DGobis - October 27 - 10:00 amFun to drive, plenty of power. The AWD combined with the horsepower makes the truck stick to the road like flypaper.

An Outstanding Performer - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By lightbud32 - September 26 - 10:00 amAnyone looking for a truck, and by truck I mean one that can go to the store, turn around and head out to the field, then come home to do chores. This is the perfect truck. A reliable and powerful Vortec engine and low sticker price make this the dark horse in the full size pick up industry. Anyone who buys a Ford before driving a Silverado has made a gastly mistake. The trucks price alone is incentive enough to take one home today. Not to mention the smooth ride and power. A truck at the head of its class.
