This Year's Model Updates:

The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu undergoes a number of key changes. The six-speed automatic becomes more widely available with the four-cylinder engine, and the four is now standard instead of the V6 on the top-level LTZ trim. Bluetooth connectivity also debuts as an option, while stability control becomes standard across the lineup. Power-adjustable pedals are no longer offered.

Pros:
  • Strong performance from V6, excellent ride and handling balance, roomy cabin, comfortable seats, high crash test scores, solid fit and finish.
Cons:
  • Some subpar cabin materials, no rear center armrest, fussy manual-shift feature, a few key luxury features are unavailable.

Well have had this car for 3 weeks now and it is impressing me more and more. We looked at all the sedans and chose the Chevy. Exterior is great interior is very good fit and finish (wish it had a rear arm rest) The two tone color grows on us its ebony and brick. QUITE ver Quite much more so than the 04 accord i just sold. engine is strong and gas mileage seems to be in line with the accord v6 25 or so in my commute 70/30 hwy city. would recommend to anyone looking at the accord camry esp with the pricing now. Drive them all and see trust me we were surprised that we ended up at the chevy.

Traded in our 2006 Chevrolet Impala LT for a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu LS, what an improvement. The Impalas a good car, but the Malibu is an excellent car. It rides really smooth, feels well put together, is designed well inside and out and is a good value. It comes with ABS, traction and stability control, six airbags, OnStar with turn- by-turn directions, Sirius-XM radio and so much more all standard. Ours had no options. We love the golden pewter metallic color which looks light blue sometimes and gray/silver others, depending on the light. When driving, the car feels planted, dont be afraid to hit the gas around a curve. Brakes that could stop a train are great too.

Purchased an LTZ with the 6 cylinder engine after testing the 4 and finding it a bit sluggish. While only in the first month of ownership, Ive been delighted. The cabin is comfortable, pleasing to the eye, and very quiet. The sound system is a joy. Last night I heard low frequencies in the Saint- Saens organ concerto Id never noticed before. The leather seats are very supportive, especially in the back-- where I appreciate the firmness. The six comes with hydraulic steering that gives just the right feedback. Mileage so far is satisfactory--19.7 mpg on short hauls around town. Glad I got the six--it has pickup that reminds me of my Dads 65 Chrysler 300. Its eager to go.

  • Excellent Vehicle -Drive one! - 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Excellent vehicle - good fuel economy, power (for a 4 cylinder), rides and handles excellent, comfortable seats, and is quiet! Drive one - see for yourself how nice it is! 4 cylinder engine and 6 speed auto rans are matched well - vehicle shifts smoothly and is very quite for a 4 cylinder. trans is always in teh proper gear, it dont hunt like other competitiors I drove. Radio controls are very intuitive, I didnt even have to read the manual to program the stations - which by the way you are not limited to one set of AM, one set of FM , and one set of XM - you can mix and match your presets in the order you want- very nice!

Why pay more? This is a great car. It has a terrific sound and communications package, rides quiet and smooth and is fun to drive. Ive had cars that cost twice as much that couldnt hold a candle to this car. Well done GM! A great value.

  • Good car for getting around - 2009 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

I have had this car for almost 6 years now and got it with 72,000 miles on it. I now have around 158k miles on it. Here is a list of Pros and Cons Pros -Interior is good looking -gets around 22-25 mpg (in town) -stock speakers are nice and loud Cons -The turning radius is terrible where it handles worse than a truck -the parts inside the vehicle are all cheaply made so they break quicker -seats are a little uncomfortable for longer rides. The seats fold inward where it creates a divet where the back seat and the butt seat connect (not good for lower back) -no lumbar support. Here’s what I’ve had to fix so far -all new door lock actuators (prices at $350 a piece professionally) -turning signal knob -catalytic converter and exhaust manifold -tire rods multiple times

  • Camry Cant Touch This - 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

We purchased a Camry last year for my wife because I thought they were supposed to be reliable. Well the warranty was over in one year for us because we drive alot, then we had the interior panels falling apart and the thrash engine noises and slow downshifts. Since the reliability rumors obviously wernt true, we decided to go with the facts and choose GM because they had a warranty to back it, and we couldnt have made a better choice. The interior is gorgeous and very sturdy and soft feeling. The 4 cylinder is so smooth that at 70 you can hardly hear it. Our black one with factory 19s looks very cool and you really stand out. Its a sharp contrast to the very common and boring camry we had.

  • A Great Buy - 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

The last three new cars I purchased were Toyotas. But after driving a new Malibu which I had rented from a car rental place for a trip, I fell in love with it. Confort is important for me since I am disabled. After completing our trip, I knew that when it came time to purchase a new car, The Malibu would be the one.

  • Best Car Chevy has ever made. - 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Mine is a LS with 4 cyl engine. Gas mileage is okay at about 25 mpg average, but this car handles better than any GM car Ive ever driven, and seats are comfy too. If GM made more cars like this, they wouldt be on the verge of collapse. This is a fleet vehicle for me, and while I like it a lot, I would choose an Accord, Mazda 6, or Altima if I were buying with my own cash. All in all, a very nice vehicle though.
