Pros:

Cons:
  • Not quite as much cargo space as chief rivals, some controls difficult to reach, lifeless steering.

I was looking for a car that would make my highway driving comfortable with good gas mileage, as well as make my short commute enjoyable. It has exceeded my expectations. Furthermore, everyone who has seen this car has had nothing but good things to say about its styling and comfort. Would I buy another one...in a heartbeat!

Im on a tight budget with a family of 4 and needed something that will last ten years and grow with the children. After testing 4 different new and 5 used models I felt the Equinox LS offered the best value for the $$. I would have liked to upgrade to LT, but it was too much of a stretch. That said, you get a lot of "upgrade" level features on the LS. After 2000 miles performance has been great. Mileage around 26 combined. Only two minor repairs -dealer forgot to put on antenna and a cap on the windshield wiper nut fell off. Dealer fixed both -no questions. No issues in interior.

Based of four long test drives, 6 and 4cyl - FWD and AWD, We ordered a 6 cyl- AWD. Excellent ride on a very rough highway. I thought the 18" tires rode better than the 17". We travel with a lot of stuff and sometimes haul a trailer so the 6cyl power is a must. The look and features are hard to believe for under $30,000. Keep it up New GM, its about time.

Blind spots on drivers side make this a scary vehicle to drive. Dont expect passing gear to kick in and take right off when you are changing lanes on the freeway and really need it to kick in at that moment. It swallows one or two times first. Many driver seat combinations block the view of the speedometer in the 40-70 mph range. Drivers window up too high and leaning your arm out the window has your shoulder close to your ear or higher. Hardest riding, nosiest vehicle I have ever owned (Im 56). Although the vehicle has deft steering, turning off the Traction Control seems to help with the stability or whatever that odd feeling is with the vehicle. Glad I only leased it for 3 years.

  • So far so good - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

This is a wonderful car since I had a few GM vehicles. But I had some experience about this brand new version; when I got this car first day back, I had a problem with the infotainment screen that was totally blank out, I have to take to the closer dealer for repair; second problem it was an engine stalling out on the road (within 400 miles in odometer), the dealer had to replace some engine part on it. After 2 times back to dealer, this car is running great till now.

My lighter HHR was sportier & handled better, but a lot noisier, so I appreciate the quiet luxury feel of this one. I would delete gaudy chrome, useless roof rack & lower the body to close the gap over the tires. Lower center of gravity always improves handling.

  • Best Small SUV since Aztek - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

We started this journey of searching for a new car last year. Dealer after dealer car after car. I even considered buying foreign for the first time in my life. However my wife loved her Aztek and wanted something that would compare to size comfort and cargo space with all the bells and whistles. We drove Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Buick, and then one last chance for GM we went to John Miles Chevrolet. They were so laid back they let the car sell itself. We saw the Equinox 2010 sitting in front of the showroom. We drove it and the rest is history.

Wife and I like it a lot. Nice styling, ride, handling, features, value. No beefs about the gas mileage.

  • First 4 cylinder - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I waited until the newness wore off to write a review. First the performance of the 2.4 is a pleasant surprise. After driving V8s for years, I was apprehensive. I just returned from a 3547 mi. trip to Az. and back to Wa. Highway speeds from 60 to 75 were maintained and at elevations from sea level to 7000 ft. Mileage for the trip was 26 mpg actual, about 1.2 mpg below indicated. I have no question that the 29 mpg could be achieved (or exceeded) at 65 mph max. and no mountain driving. I dont have that discipline. The Equinox is extremely quiet at highway speeds. On rubberized asphalt there is no road noise either. Seating is very comfortable (my bad back is appreciative). Good Ride!

Love the styling but the the back end needs to look more bold. Lot of positive comments from friends. Had a Tahoe (nice) but wanted better MPG & utility. Bought Silver w/Black cloth int & pwr sunroof. Definitely, not a rocket, but gets up to speed in time & the average mpg is just under 23 as long as you have a good mix of highway & city. Lots of traff lights impacts quickly. No road trips yet to verify the 29 mpg. Had also looked at the Rav 4 and the CRV. Passed on the Rav cause the rear door swings out & did not like the base of rear armrest sticking up when folding the rear seats down. The CRV was nice, but liked the Equinox styling much more. I would recommend the leather seating
