  • Colorado is a poor truck. Buy Toyota! - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

My 2004 Colorado has had trans leak. Front axle seal and front differential seal leaks. Front end eats tires. GM re-aligned after several calls to GM customer service, now a bad vibration has developed with no fix by GM. Replaced heater blower fan twice. Replaced speaker, cup holder, seat adjuster broken. Interior very cheap. Been in the shop about 14 times for diagnostics and repairs. Have to fight GM for them to fix anything. Poor truck. Will buy Toyota the next time!

  • The Worst Truck Chevy Ever Built - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I purchased this pickup in 2004 basically due to the rising cost of gas. It has been a electronic nightmare. First the heater messed up, they changed it under warranty. Next the radio would not go off. They looked at it said found nothing. Next the bolts on the door fell off they been replaced twice more. Now the heater is making noises again. The bolt is off the door again, which causes a popping noise each time you open the door. And yesterday the drivers side window would not roll down. And of course it is no longer under warranty. And it has a recall because the brake lights fail to work. Ive owed 4 Chevy trucks and the Colorado is not a lower price truck, but just a cheap made truck.

My Colorado has been such a let down. It feels way too light going down the road. It bounces and is not responsive. Although aesthetically the car is nice, it just did not perform the way I thought it should.

  • Ouch - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I was pretty pleased with my Colorado until recently. I purchased it new 2.5 years ago. Great ride. Great gas mileage. Good in the snow. The starter had to be replaced after 6 months. My check engine light recently came on. Took it to the dealership. They tell me a cylinder needs replaced. $3,000+. Whoa! Of course the warranty has expired too. This shouldnt happen. The truck isnt that old and I hear of others with the same problem.

I had one of the cylinders worked on after 2 months and now after 2 and a half years need to have the entire cylinder head replaced - $4,000, of course out of warranty and with no help from GM. To be honest thats only the start of all the problems that Ive had with the vehicle. The quality and reliability on this vehicle stinks along with GM customer service. Ill never by another GM.

Drivers side of cab has been filling with water ever since we got this pickup. Our dealership techs have been unable to fix this, despite repeated stays in their shop. Its been with them since before Thanksgiving this round (Jan.8,2007). For a brand new vehicle, this is unacceptable. We are looking into lemon law for resolution with GM.

  • Never Buy a First-Year Product! - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

This truck replaced a 2001 Dodge Dakota. It is equipped as a 4x4 extended cab with the I-4 engine, which is a horrible mismatch for a truck of this weight. The construction of the box is terrible, with noticeable gaps in the welds where the floor of the box joins the front wall. It came from the factory with the front end out of alignment. It has had non-stop power steering problems, The pump was replaced under warranty, after having not been properly filled at the factory. The replacement was also noisy. It is now down because of failure of the high- pressure hose. Several bowtie-fan friends have called it a lousy representation of a what a Chevy truck should be.

  • Good truck, but noTacoma - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I bought my 04 Colorado Crewcab Z71 4WD used with 20,000 miles. I think its the best US build compact crewcab truck. Overall I like the truck. GM did a good job with the design and its a good driving truck. So for Ive had to replace a headlight assembly, front axle seal and CV shaft, and the auto dimming/compass rear view mirror. All were warranty repairs but it seems odd given the low mileage. I really wanted a Tacoma. I guess should expect a few problems since I saved approx. $6000-$7000.

  • No problems - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

The Colorado has been a pleasure to own. Have had no mechanical problems, fuel economy has been respectable, and it is easy to handle in tight spaces. 220 horsepower from the 3.5 motor was adequate. With the locking hard cover it was a pleasure on trips. Plenty of space for all sorts of gear and luggage. Off road ventures no problem plenty of clearance.

  • Good to Go - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I have had this vehicle for a short time but have driven it everywhere. I like the shifting on the 5 speed and the power.
