This Year's Model Updates:

The Cobalt is a replacement for the aged Cavalier and like its predecessor it's available in both coupe and sedan body styles.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride and sporty handling, torquey four-cylinder engine, premium content for basic-car price.
Cons:
  • A few cheap plastic interior parts, odd exterior styling details.

  • Great Car For The Price! - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I really enjoy my Cobalt. I was lucky enough to have a friend who worked for Chevy. He worked everything out for me. My Cobalt is by no means a fast sports car or a luxury Lexus or anything, but it has been a wonderful car. I have had no problems in 2 years and anything I needed done got fixed promptly and w/o out any questions from Chevy. I do wish the gas mileage was a little better, but it rides great and is comfortable for trips. Its a great car for the low price

  • Poor mans Vette - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

It is a fun and affordable car to own and drive, handles, performs, stops very well. It is comfortable to ride in and drive with 3 way adjustable drivers seat leather interior 7 speaker system. The handling, performance, style and cost of this car make this a poor mans Vette.

I have had this car for two years and have many problems with it. It is currently in the shop right now for the 8th time and it only has 39000 miles on it. It was in the shop twice for problems with the sunroof, which is not that big of a deal. But I have had two major problems. One, the brake lines and brake fluid lines were bad. It was in the shop three times for brake issues, and the third time I took it in I had no brake fluid left in the car because of a major leak. The second problem has been with the steering. Twice I have had problems where the power steering message comes up and I lose control of the steering. If I could go back I would buy a different car.

My daughter drives this car to school - around 40 miles roundtrip. So far she is averaging 30-31 MPG with the trip to school on rural roads and just everyday driving in town-no freeway driving. We are pleasantly surprised considering all the bad press the Colbalt gets in many reviews for its "poor" gas mileage. We have 6942 problem free miles driven and have had only 1 (ridiculously expensive) oil change at the dealership. We are very pleased so far.

  • Whats Everyone Complaining About? - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I hear so many people talk this car down, but this is literally the best car Ive owned so far. Fuel economy is great, and theres a never ending supply of get-up-and-go. I got the base model, which I suppose means fewer things to go wrong, but this car has only been in the shop for 8 hours (would have been less if the guys would have let me show them what was wrong when I first drove it in the shop). Had a bad coil pack. Not GMs fault their supplier gave em a junk part. Fixed it 9000 miles ago and still driving strong! I put 100 miles a day or more on this car and it loves every minute of it. Ill have this car for a very long time. You go GM!

  • My Cobalt Coupe - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

The Chevy Cobalt LS coupe is an awesome car! I bought mine in late 05 and it came with everything except a sunroof and the supercharger but even the basic models of the Cobalt are fun cars to own. It has great acceleration for a 4cyl. and the Ecotec engine is very dependable. So far the most mileage I have gotten out of a tank of gas is 359 miles but the average is 280. It also has several after market parts for those who enjoy modifing. I highly recommend the upgraded 7 speaker Pioneer audio system, it packs an awesome punch. Overall this car is a great car and I highly recommend it.

  • Love my Cobalt - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

The Cobalt is a great utility car. It gets me from point A to point B in relative good style and comfort. I cant really think of anything bad about the car. I just wish I had put more options into it. Great for the tuner scene once there is a computer tune for the car.

  • Very Underrated - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I am always suprised to see how low the experts rate the Cobalt. I absolutely love this car! It has great looks, great gas mileage (35+ mpg), and is very comfortable. It seems to be a very well built car, and it is a blast to drive. If I had to buy a sport compact all over again, my choice would not change at all. GM did an excellent job in designing this car. Oh yeah, did I mention the great looks?

  • Must Have Car - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

The car is great, handling is awsome. Stock tires dont last long but they seem to grip the road very well. Very responsive throttle and the supercharger is the best ever. I would recommend the car to anyone who ask me what I think of it.

  • Im IMPRESSED enough to buy! - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

Having owned a 2001 Cavalier, I expected Cobalt to be merely a re-packaging. Not so, my great looking base coupe is a sports car! Albeit entry level and low priced. We were so taken by it that the kids and I begged Mom to let us get the Coupe. In order to do so we purchased one extra option, a new dining room table.
