Overview & Reviews
New LS Sport trim level for coupes and sedans that features an all-new 2.2-liter EcoTec engine. A Z24 sedan joins the Z24 coupe at the top end of the lineup, while both the LS and base model Cavalier gain additional standard equipment and an optional Sport appearance package. Both Z24 models get an upgraded stereo and an optional Sport appearance package will be available later in the year. Three new colors have also been added along with an upgraded cloth interior.
- Affordably priced, new EcoTec four-cylinder engine, Z24 is a stylish and speedy low-buck sport coupe.
- You get what you pay for in terms of feature content, haphazard build quality, dreadfully uncomfortable seats.

Good for the price - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By Spoiler45 - September 25 - 10:00 amWhen it comes to price, you really cant beat the 2DR Coupe. Very comfortable on the inside, not bad on the outside. Fuel economy is what it should be for a car like this. Satisfactory leg room. Very reliable, no problems to date.

A good city driver - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By cav_rider666 - August 12 - 1:26 pmThe Cavalier may not be the most exiting compact sedan out there but its definitely worth taking a closer look at this value filled sedan. The 2.2L OHV engine design offers acceptable power, great fuel economy and offers one of the best automatic transmissions in its class. The Cavaliers timeless yet elegant lines make it pleasant to look at and its poor resell value makes it a great used buy. The interior is roomy, somewhat comfortable on long trips and offers ample cargo and storage space while still being able to comfortably accomodate 5 adults.

Great Car - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By TUowl05 - July 31 - 8:57 pmI bought a 2002 2 door LS sport in July of 2003 with 5k miles on it. It was a great car that was extremely reliable and relatively fun to drive. I only had to replace the drivers side window motor as that went out at about 35k miles. Other than that the car was flawless. My only complaint was the paint is pretty crappy. You could scratch it with your fingernail. Despite waxing it reguraly nicks and scratches always seemed to pop up. I recently traded it in on an 06 Saab 9- 3 but even with the step up I still miss my Cavalier. It was a great little car during my college years. It had 55,000 miles on it when I got rid of it and was pleased with the $5k trade in I got for it.

Worked out well for me - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By mergatroid - May 30 - 10:26 pmI purchased my 2002 standard 4 door at an auction in Oct 2003 with 9000 miles. I previously had a 90 and I put 105,000 miles on it before selling it to my nephew whos still driving it. I wanted an inexpensive commuter car with good fuel economy. It has been that. I currently have 46,000 miles and the only non-routine repair I have had was the fan resistor pack replaced under warranty. I wasnt expecting a luxury or sports car, I just wanted reliable, economical basic transportation and the Cavalier has been that.

Nice car!! - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By jerry - April 5 - 10:12 pmI bought it used for $7,995. I love it. It is an all around great car. Stiff sporty suspension, and a smooth highway drive. Looks and rides like a true sports car. I have the rare chrome stock wheels. It is bright red. Its a head turner. Not a bad built car. The 2.2 eco tech is the way to go I have heard nothing but bad thing about the 2.4 Z24 plus the body looks better. I strapped a z24 factory sign on there just to be cool

Good Basic Transportation - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By Matt - February 26 - 1:26 pmRelable and smooth running subcompact. Only complaint is the dashboard warps and cracks too easily. Other than that, a very low maintenance car.

Midnight - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By cwilson179 - January 28 - 10:46 pmI bought my car on January 29, 2004. It has been the best car I have ever had! It is dark blue metallic. My car is 5 years old now. It still runs like new. I have taken care of my car very well. I always get compliments about how good of condition that my car is. Everyone loves the color of the car including me! The 2.2 ecotec so far is a very good engine I now have 82,000 miles on my car. I dont have any problem with the comfort with the interior of the car. I drive this car at least 40 miles per day mostly highway driving. It gets the same great gas mileage that I got the day that I got it! It gets between 30 and 32 mpg. I would not trade this car for anything.

Get what you pay for - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By Gabe - January 14 - 9:54 amIm still driving my Cavalier and I have to say that its not too bad considering the price. Obviously its one of the more inexpensive cars out there, so expect what you pay for. The key phrase here is "preventative maintenance." As long as you get regular oil changes and check-ups, the Cavalier will hold up. Will say that it seems to run into problems on very wet days, especially when running through puddles. Not too enamored with the crash ratings but, again, you get what you pay for. Couple of expensive repairs but confident they are isolated incidents and dont affect the overall dependability of the Cavalier. Remember, its a cheap car. Dont expect a Porsche out of it.

Good starter car - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By Erica - July 30 - 10:07 amI like the sporty look of the outside and the ease of driving it. However, the seats could be more comfortable and the alloy rims are very expensive to replace. It has the basic features I need and is a good starter car.
