Overview & Reviews
New LS Sport trim level for coupes and sedans that features an all-new 2.2-liter EcoTec engine. A Z24 sedan joins the Z24 coupe at the top end of the lineup, while both the LS and base model Cavalier gain additional standard equipment and an optional Sport appearance package. Both Z24 models get an upgraded stereo and an optional Sport appearance package will be available later in the year. Three new colors have also been added along with an upgraded cloth interior.
- Affordably priced, new EcoTec four-cylinder engine, Z24 is a stylish and speedy low-buck sport coupe.
- You get what you pay for in terms of feature content, haphazard build quality, dreadfully uncomfortable seats.

Great Little Car! - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By sensationalsens1978 - January 17 - 9:03 amIt is a perfect car for getting me to work and back. I havent had any serious problems with it. However it is starting to rust, but that will be fixed later this year! If you are looking for a safe, reliable, and affordable vehicle, look no further than the Cavalier!

300,000 miles - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By contaucreek - January 2 - 4:40 pmBought used in 04. Drive 100000km a year and have about 480000km on it now. Odometer burnt out, dash lights burnt out, countless rear strut mounts,a/c failed first due to wiring then due to probable clutch problem, usual headlight wiring issue, does not burn a drop of oil, reliable like you wouldnt believe (touch wood)

Great gas mileage! - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By Sassycat - November 3 - 4:49 pmI was driving our SUV to work everyday and got the Cavalier to save on gas. I love this car. Its cute, reliable and definitely performs in the mileage-saving area. On the open road Ive gotten 40-mpg! Ive driven this car solo across the country a number of times and have had no problems. It has about 80,000 miles on it but the interior and exterior still look new after a wash & wax. Had a clogged fuel line that caused problems last year but that has been fixed. A strut bearing needs attention, apparently thats a typical problem, annoying but not critical.

Sad, Its a Joke - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By noone99 - October 25 - 2:00 amHad a 91 Olds Cutlass Calais to 2K Cavalier. I almost/should have bought a Honda Civic. Wife has a 2K Odyssey. Cavalier has 33,000 miles. Ive heard noises from the front struts, a recall on the electrical system, rear defogger takes 3 times longer then Calais. I have a 5 speed. When hot out-side with A/C on under load, Cavalier doesnt have an A/C compressor cut-off, causes sitting duck at 25-35 MPH in 2nd gear. Dealer says, its designed that way". Stereo, 91 Calais had much better factory speakers. I went from the perfect running car to a joke. Dads Cavalier is punishment if you have a 11 year-old daughter that gets into trouble, who doesnt want her friends to see her in this car.

Got Milk? - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By LMX - October 25 - 2:00 amThus far, I have had no problems with my car, and although it is less than 5 months old, I bought a 99 Z-24 brand new, and traded it in, so I had it around 3 years, with no major problems, and only normal wear and tear expenses with my very aggressive driving style. I race, and these cars have held up suprisingly well with the stresses I put it through, although I do keep it excellently maintained.

02 Cavy base coupe - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By seanyboi142 - October 1 - 12:18 pmI love this car so much. Its got a little power to it (110 hp base model). Its not so good when accelerating with the AC on it puts a drag on the engine. I took it back to a Chevy dealership twice. The first time I took it back because I got tired of the base engine and ordered a LS sport engine which was much needed for power (140 hp engine). Well my engine light came after I had the car for about 2 or 3 weeks. Turns out someone put some of the parts in wrong. Well thats it. Its a great car.

2002 Chevy Cavalier LS Sport - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By Dmagic - September 25 - 1:03 amI recently purchased the cavalier LS Sport Sedan. I must say that for the buck, this is a best buy! It has all the custom features most people want, available in factory make. The sound system is excellent, and puts a little bump in your ride. Considering it only has a 4 cylinder, the car has quite an amount of pickup too.

Well, you get what you paid for.... - 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier
By Violette - September 7 - 10:00 amYes I will be zipping around but Ive had my problems. The car has already had the computer replaced, about 3,000 miles ago, that dealership at FL-GA border - do not recommend - took 6 hours to locate a rental and was given "tips" by others who got their car in record speed. My dealership, however explains well and is very friendly/helpful, even though they cant find the "new" problem yet.
