Purchased brand new, never drove it hard. Took it on trips, always maintained the vehicle. 70k hits and the crank shaft position sensor goes out and the car wont start. 73k hits, the timing belt broke and now I have to pay $2000 for a new engine. Right when I got it back the transmission went out. Out of control

A new entry-level car that really does feel upscale. I am continually surprised by the ride quality, low noise, and effortless cruising at 75 mph. The automatic transmission is velvet-smooth, and the interior is surprisingly roomy. The interior does not look expensive, but not gawdy and cheap, either. A fine car all around, backed by GMCs vast dealer network.

  • AVEO--fun!-comfortable! - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo

Great little car! Ive had a small Hyundai, which was great! and a small Ford, which was great, but tee-eeny! But the AVEO outshines them both, in spades. Definitely get the sedan, if you are interested in trunk storage, as the whole car is 14 inches longer then the hatchback. Has a lot of features that you wouldnt expect on a little car -- like power windows/doors, and a sunroof option.

I do not understand how people get such low gas mileage. Mine keeps on going up. It started as 34 MPG on my first tank for city/country driving. It is now 36 to 37 city/country and 41 highway. I have over 6000 miles on mine now and have been thrilled with this car. My friend purchased and Echo and she gets lower gas mileage and has had her car in the shop 3 times in 4 months. I would recommend an Aveo to any one. I am near 50 and think this is the a car I will own for many years.

  • Leaves you stranded! - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo

Bought this car new off the lot for my son. If you want it to last more than 70k, then dont get it. Has left him stranded from work, school, and home 5 times. Crank Shaft sensor at 60k, Radiator problems at 65k, engine blew at 70k, and transmission shifting problems at 71k. Not worth the headache for an "American car" that has parts from Korea. Should have purchased a honda/toyota but unfortunately they didnt offer smaller cars back in 04. Never will I buy an American car again, completely unreliable and of course it all happens after the warrenty runs out. Bought new for $14,200 and have put in $3000 in repairs in the last 3 years! Thats not normal!

Ive had my Aveo for just about a month now and I have been nothing but impressed with the car. I have driven the car in the flat lands of West Texas and the mountains of New Mexico and its performed very well. The engine has pleanty of pep and the interior is very spacious. Im a big ole boy and Im more than comfortable in the car.

I saw them in Europe and bought one of the first U.S. ones. I rent and drive many cars and always am happy to get back into my Aveo. Drove 800 miles and it was a pleasure. Like any car they must be maintained. Aveo is very easy to service!

Surprising amount of space up front and in trunk. Fun little car to wrack the miles up on and not feel bad about it. This little guy is sacrificing to save a new Tacoma Double Cab.

  • WAS a great car!! - 2004 Chevrolet Aveo

I loved this car. The gas door cable broke for the 3rd time & last time - didnt fix it again. I was the only owner/driver. GREAT gas mileage. I do a lot of traveling & the car was comfortable. On a trip to Houston this week, the timing belt broke. Turns out this is a known issue - covered by recall up to 60k miles. My car had 59335 miles. After the 60k, should it happen again, Im out of luck. So the car got traded for a Colorado. Lots of other little things have gone wrong with this car, but thats to be expected for a first year model. Otherwise, the travel aspect - comfort & mileage - were wonderful!!
