This Year's Model Updates:

The North Face package is no longer offered, but an electronic stability control system is now available as part of the Z66 Premium On-Road Suspension package. Hydroboost brakes are now standard on all 1500 series Avalanches and the optional 8.1-liter V8 is now rated at 320 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque.

Pros:
  • Versatile and innovative cab configuration, strong V8 engines, substantial towing ability.
Cons:
  • Some cheap interior pieces, lifeless steering, limited drivetrain choices.

So far the vehicle has operated flawlessly. The ride is smooth. The handling is great, and the power is awesome. The fuel economy is not wonderful, but the smooth ride was a pleasant surprise.

The gas milage is terrible. I love my truck and didnt want to but anyhting else but the gas makes me not want to take it on tripts. Make more wiht out that ugly cladding. It looks a lot better without that junk on the side.

purshased the vechcle nesw at the end of 2002. the vechicle is fun to drive and gives you great overdirve performance in the ford explored i had when yu went up a hill the over drive would kick off and eave yu hanging. This doesnt. one thing the vechicle comes with a different size spare tireand its not the same make of tire. it had 190000 miles on it/ the dealership need to improve their customer relations as well in the service dept. not ver swift sorry courtesy but you flunked the satisfaction test.

4000 miles driven so no long term reliability comments. Impresive ride considering the size. Some may complain of numb steering but I find it just fine. I suggest the 4.10 rear ratio for more spirited local driving.
