Overview & Reviews
For 2004, the CTS adds a more powerful 3.6-liter V6 in addition to the standard 3.2-liter motor. The base suspension has been modified with new shocks, while the Sport package is now available on all models. The interior receives a slight refresh in the form of a color-keyed center console, additional chrome trim and white lighting. Lastly, an engine water temperature gauge replaces the clock on the dash.
- Excellent handling, spacious cabin, alternative look.

Great Value, Lots of Fun - 2004 Cadillac CTS
By CTS GARY - September 21 - 10:00 amHave 1st 04 delivered in SW Florida. 3.6vvt is OUTSTANDING(plus it takes regular fuel). Sport package is stellar, ride firm but compliant. Lumbar support for 04 is welcome. The 48th new car Ive owned, this is the best overall for fun to drive plus luxury. Fit and Finish perfect. Quiet and solid. New(for 04)Mirror polished Sport Wheels are awesome. Traded a 2001 Aurora (that I liked VERY much)but the 04 CTS is in a different class entirely.Unqualified recommendation to anyone shopping this category.Great value.

Nice Ride, needs work - 2004 Cadillac CTS
By LDT - September 9 - 2:00 amI have never bought a Caddy, but knowing this car was designed to compete with European cars made me take a closer look. Even though I do not have the sport suspension, it still handles quite well. I also do not have the Bose stereo, but it still cranks out the sound. What I do not like is the cheap boom box center stack. GM just cant seem to figure it out. The climate control is also poorly designed. They used the same controls that was in a Buick I rented last summer. Guess it was a cost saving thing.. but if you want to compete with the real sport sedans.... The info center is also hard to read and the controls are poorly laid out.

Timing Chain Repair at 70K miles=$2500 - 2004 Cadillac CTS
By rcwilbur - July 9 - 1:05 pmI love driving this car. When purchasing I opted for the 3.6 liter engine, in part, because it has timing chains that are supposed to survive the life of the car, as opposed to the 3.2 which the owners manual suggests replacing at 100k miles. The owners manual even states that if you dont replace the timing belt on the 3.2 liter you risk severe engine damage. Well the timing chain broke on my 3.6 CTS at 70K miles and the dealership estimates that the repair costs will be about $2500. Dealership also told me they had another 3.6 CTS in at the same time, for the same problem.

Fun to drive if you like rattles - 2004 Cadillac CTS
By CTS - June 15 - 12:45 pmThis car is fun to drive, with the 5 speed manual and the 3.2 liter dohc v6 makes a fair amount of power. The interior is comfortable but is a little boring and kind of cheaply made. I am very disappointed with the stabilatrack which has gone haywire on me after 45000 miles and a rattle coming from the engine somewhere, after about 30,000 miles. other than that the car is wonderful, turns on a dime, good acceleration, handles good, and brakes good.

Styish, solid, impressive - 2004 Cadillac CTS
By Vince - March 17 - 1:51 pmI bought this car to replace my 2004 Acura TL that got totaled, and the Caddy really leaves you with a better impression. It drives very much like a Mercedes E-class very solid and confident. The torquey 3.6 L engine accelerates with ease, never feels stressed, and is perfect for hour-plus highway trips, if not for the less- than-stellar fuel economy (at least it takes regular gas). The dash design is a bit homely, to be honest, but the interior is otherwise very pleasant and the seats are really comfortable (although at first it was tricky adjusting it to a comfy position). Polished metal plates on the door sills would be nice, like in other luxury cars.

CTS by JFD - 2004 Cadillac CTS
By JFDCPA - February 14 - 10:00 amGot tired of waiting for the new Acura TLs to be released and so I bought my CTS instead. What a great move! It rides well, looks great, and is fun to drive. And all of this for a reasonable price. My past experience with Cadillac was not a good one (I owned an 87 Eldorado). However, this one is looking like it is going to be much better.
