This Year's Model Updates:

Who woulda thought -- a Buick SUV? More accurately, the Rendezvous is one of a new breed of crossover vehicles that combines the look and utility of an SUV with the comfort of a touring car. The Rendezvous is based on the Pontiac Aztek, itself based on GM's minivan family consisting of the Chevrolet Venture, Pontiac Montana and Oldsmobile Silhouette.

Pros:
  • Available third-row seat that folds flush with the load floor, independent rear suspension, optional rear parking assist.
Cons:
  • Down on power compared to the competition, minimal off-road capability.

  • My Droning RDV - 2002 Buick Rendezvous
    By -

We road tested the RDV on a wet bumpy, back road in Feb. 2003 and were impressed enough to buy one. It handled almost as well as my 1993 Buick Regal Grand Sport which I traded in (I loved that car). However, I am annoyed by the droning noise at 2,100 rpms regardless of my speed. Also there is a distinctive tinny, thumping noise that reverberates throughout the back of the car when I drive on concrete highways going over the dividers and bumps in the pavement. Dealer could not find the cause of the problems, they test drove another new RDV and it had the same noise.

  • My Leftover Find - 2002 Buick Rendezvous

I found this car in the back lot of my deaership. It was a leftover 2002 and I bought it in December 2003. I was given a good deal on it.

  • A good Car from American Make - 2002 Buick Rendezvous

This is probably one of the most reliable American Cars out there avaliable in todays market. Good gas millage, reliable, fun to drive. It is an ideal family car. Great in winter conditions. We took it for over 3 trips which were over 1,000 miles without any hesitations or problems. Seats are a bit uncomfortable after a long drive.

Best new vehicle weve ever owned. Exceptional performance with Versatrak AWD is adverse weather. Functional, attractive, and very comfortable interior. Smooth ride and better fuel economy than "standard SUVs." We have all options but the 6 CD changer.

  • Took a chance on a new model. - 2002 Buick Rendezvous

Took a chance buying a new model, but never regreted it. For the money I paid I dont think there is anything that comes close. The car has run flawlessly since the day I purchased it. Would and probably will buy another one when it is time to replace this one.

great car with 3 problems: execessive wind noise on driver side 15.9 mpg noisey creaky front seat

  • A fine minivan alternative - 2002 Buick Rendezvous

After a year and 15,000 miles, here are some comments about a "well worn in" vehicle. The car handles reasonably well for its size and is very comfortable inside. The controls are logically arranged and easy to use. With the 2nd row captains chairs, we find the interior to be very accommodating - and its fairly easy for even a large adult to get into the rear seats. My only real disappointment is with the fuel economy, which even on long, flat highway trips has been WELL below expectations. We average about 17 MPG in mixed city/highway driving.

  • Love the Ride-Not the Problems - 2002 Buick Rendezvous

Love to drive this SUV, but have had many mechanical problems. Speed sensors, front brakes and rotors, rear brakes and rotors, broken wiper motor. For 25,000 miles, this seems a bit excessive in the wear department.

  • LOVE MY RENDEZVOUS - 2002 Buick Rendezvous

ONLY OWNED A WEEK BUT I LOVE THIS CAR. FUN TO DRIVE, INTERIOR ROOM AND LUXURY FEATURES CANT BE BEAT. KIDS LOVE THE ROOM IN THE SECOND AND THIRD SEATS. SURE MOST SUVS SPORT A LITTLE MORE POWER BUT THIS VEHICLE HAS PLENTY WHEN YOU NEED IT. QUALITY, RELIABILITY ASK ME IN 4-5 YEARS BUT AFTER SPENDING AT LEAST 8 GRAND LESS THAN A COMPARABLE LEXUS RX300 (W/O 3RD SEAT) ILL TAKE MY CHANCES.

  • Decent SUV - 2002 Buick Rendezvous

I have been satified with this vehicle for the last 3 years; no real major problems. Only the A/C compressor went out at about 30K (under warranty). My only real complaint is the materials used in the vehicle just "feel" cheap; not up to other luxury SUV standards. However, this vechicle is loaded with options and has great passenger/storage room. I have noticed a lot of rattles and squeeks (sun roof, seats, doors, etc). Just one final note: Depreciation is HORRIFIC; so if you get one, you need to keep it a LONG time. I just purchased a RX 330 and cant give this car away!
