This Year's Model Updates:

BMW now offers a DVD-based navigation system for the 2003 BMW M5 -- but alas, you still can't get an in-dash CD player. Besides that, rear head protection airbags (optional last year) are now standard across the line. This is the last year for the current 5 Series -- the M5 being the higher-performance relative of the 540i -- as it will get a full redesign for the 2004 model year. If recent history holds, the M5 is likely to go on hiatus for a couple of years before returning to the welcoming arms and wallets of wealthy enthusiasts. And rumor has it that it will be coming back with a V10 under the hood.

Pros:
  • Incredible drivetrain, superb brakes, world-class suspension, attractive and luxurious interior, understated appearance.
Cons:
  • High price tag, small gauges, demanding manual transmission.

  • As close to perfect as you can get - 2003 BMW M5

If youve never owned a high-end high performance car before, the M5 with its knock-your-socks-off power and vast, comfortable interior will far exceed your expectations. If you have owned high performance supercars, this is your daily driver.

The M5 is a perfect balance between the family sedan (fits our two car seats nicely. Superior safety feature) and a Winston Cup car. This car is overflowing with luxury. The sound system rocks (except you cant add satellite radio with DSP). The navigation is great. Most of all this car flat our hauls you know what, and holds the road like glue! Forget about buying a Porsche and a family car. This car has it all!

  • Cant be beat - 2003 BMW M5

All my life I dreamed of a car that was so perfect. The drivetrain is outstading, braking is phonomenal, and build quality is very impressive. I drive the m5 alot through towns and on highways and it is always a pleasure. The gas miliage is not very good, but it is all made up for. The sterio system is very high quality and all interior materials have a nice feel to them. This is a luxary car that drives like a smooth, slick race car. In the world of sports sedans it cant be beat.

  • It is sure the best - 2003 BMW M5

It is the best car that I have ever driven. If you want to feel that you are really driving a car that’s mean you have to drive it otherwise I’m not sure that you are driving. It gathers both sporty and family car. This car is truly impressed me.

This car is simply incredible. Have 3 passengers to take in style, no problem. Need to haul something, fold down the rear seat, no problem. You like a great stereo, its there. This car does not behave like a 540i with extra power. This car is a precision driving instrument waiting to respond to how youd like to drive it. It is the most fun thing to drive I have ever owned and in day to day driving is practical. Yes it has a 6 speed manual, but the clutch is easy to engage and the engine has so much torque that you can mininize the number of shifts you need in traffic. This car is an incredible piece of automotive artestry. The engineers at BMW got this one just right.

If you havent ever driven an M5, you have to find someway to get behind the wheel. Everything about it is awesome! Comfortable, beautiful and faster than all-get-out. The handling is so good it is disturbing. Get one as fast as you can!

Car handles like it is on rails. Awesome performance. The radio has electronic gremlins that shuts it down from time to time. I have the standard audio system which is satisfactory but not as good as in my previous Lexus. Cupholders are poorly designed and appear to be an afterthought by the design engineers.
