This Year's Model Updates:

This year the MDX receives standard XM Satellite Radio, a Bluetooth hands-free cell phone interface on Touring models, a larger fuel tank and an enhanced stability control system. The optional rear entertainment system now includes an in-dash six-disc CD changer, and the navigation system has an enhanced database. MDXs with navigation also include the OnStar communications system.

Pros:
  • Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

  • MDX - fun and efficient - 2005 Acura MDX

This is my first SUV and it is a fun car to drive. It also has great safety features and ample room although the third row has very tight leg room. Its cargo space is excellent with the third row seating down and adequate when up. The drive is firm but smooth and holds the road well. I just bought the car so these are initial reactions, but I have a feeling this will be a vehicle that will hold up through the years nicely.

Have owned my 2004 for 7 months and finally took it on a long cruise in Feb. A 4 hour ride. After 2 1/2 hours my butt started going numb and then legs. I think due to design of seat bottom. It tapers radically towards where the seat back joins and the angled sides of the seat bottom press into the nevers of my butt. Im 510" and 185 lbs with 35" waist. I did the same cruise the first of March with the same result. I took a friend with me the second trip and he experienced the same discomfort. If you plan on long cruises, that a second look. What about a four hour test drive??

  • Not Luxury Quality - 2005 Acura MDX

Purchased new two months ago, we have put 5000 miles on the MDX. At about 1500 miles the LCD display locked up (froze) causing loss of the ability to use the nav or to control the heating and air conditioning (a real bummer when youre lost in a strange city). After turning the car off for approx. 1/2 hr. it appeared that the electronics cooled off enough to start working again. The thermostat on the heater/air conditioner has never worked properly and the interior fogs up easily on humid days. Several other things, like loose retaining screws on some of the external body parts, etc. indicate a general lack of concern for quality.

  • Best choice in mid-size luxury SUVs - 2005 Acura MDX

Great ride; rides like a comfy car and handles well also. Gas mileage is lower than expected but that will hopefully get better as the engine break-in period elapses.
